| Thursday, December 14 Yes I know, it's been a long time since I updated this column. Sorry. Pheasant hunting kept me busy and I got a new computer and am just now getting things set up on my new one. Wrapped up pheasant hunting last weekend thus began the laundry of all the bedding, and moving furniture back to pre-pheasant hunting time. As some of my hunters know, that his past year was my last pheasant hunting season. Harold will be taking over the hunting part, but I will no longer be doing the meals and lodging. It's been a good 13 years, but it's time for Darla to retire and do something else. I will miss it, but I hope to still have people around my table and am happy to host friends and family for overnight. My father had a knee replacement surgery, all went well in spite of his doctor's fears that his heart wouldn't take the surgery. Somehow at 85, he thinks that he should be up and around as fast as those 20-30 years younger than him who have had the same surgery recently. It's his driving leg so we'll see how long it takes him to get back to driving to his several coffees a day that he's been attending. Oh yes, he had the surgery during pheasant hunting so I was busy with checking up on him and caring for pheasant hunters. Wishing you all a blessed Christmas season. |
| Sunday afternoon, Jan 8, 2012 Happy New Year! Our holiday season was a bit different than in past years. Harold & I left on Dec 17 to go to NE to our daughters for the weekend, then on to KS to visit Harold's mom in the nursing home and help his siblings clean out her house. Harold spent 2 weeks in KS with his mom and other family members and I went home to SD with my sister and niece for my family gathering on December 25. Harold returned home by New Years. It was an interesting Christmas. I just got home from spending a few days painting for my daughter. Hope they are able to get projects finished in their home before the baby comes in April. And I've been having fun as a grandma looking at baby things and thinking about things that I want to sew. My Christmas decorations got put away before my trip to NE, but now I need to redecorate my house after the Christmas season. And I need to clean and go through things and get rid of lots of stuff. Been an open winter so far, good for the peasants to be able to find food. Moisture coming this spring will be important, however. Happy New Year! |
